Remote door lock "chirp"

This might seem like a minor issue to many of you but it is a bother to me. The remote lock on my 2015 FRS makes a "chirp" when I lock and a double "chirp" when I unlock. The volume of that chirp is frequently too low for me to hear easily. I have to look at the lights to see them blink to be sure the signal was received. My previous Scions, a 2010 xB and a 2012 tC had a much louder chirp. I went to my local dealer to ask if there was a louder chirp available and was told "that's because it's really a Subaru" and not Toyota's fault! Anyway, does anyone have a simple solution to increase the volume of that chirp. Thank you.

Now that is a pretty good question, have thought about it myself.

The dealer should be able to adjust that for you with Techstream, it has nothing to do with the fact it's "really a Subaru".

I know the dealer can turn it off, that was the first "mod" I had done to the car. Not sure about turning up the volume on it. This thread by @Yruyur shows a lot of the changes that can me made (that's why I knew to ask for it to be turned off).

Absolutely stupid that you have to have the dealer do this. My 2004 Suburban has all of these and more adjustable from the steering wheel controls.

Bullshit. Every toyota sounds the same as my BRZ. That part is 100% toyota.

I remember seeing somewhere that you can switch from the beep to the older-style short horn blasts. Might try googling for that.

I assume that software works for the BRZ too correct? I'd ask in that thread, but it seems to have been dead for a while. A bunch of those are options I would love to be able to change.

Don't know but I would assume the settings are similar. You may have to go to Subaru to get it done though.

I don't know if my aftermarket horns are the cause, but my "chirps" when locking and unlocking the car are probably 15db below the aftermarket horn's honk, which is still plenty loud.

1) That sound is 100% Toyota as I've been fooled many times by Toyotas in parking lots

2) It's adjustable in Techstream and the idiots didn't want to do it

3) Hit the lock button on the remote 3 times and it'll honk the horn instead

Thanks Poodles will give that a try.

I have an appointment tomorrow with the Toyota dealer. He said he would give it a try and "maybe" it could be changed. We'll see.

The Toyota dealer adjusted the volume of the remote key/lock "chirp" to my satisfaction using TechStream. All is fine now - much louder than before.

You can also customize a lot of settings, including chirp volume, using Carista (free android app). It requires an OBDII adapter though.
