Vibrations After Spacer Install
 

This weekend I installed my RCE yellows and 20/25mm spacers.

I drove the car to work today and anything over 70mph creates quite noticeable vibrations, especially in the steering wheel. Once I hit 80 the vibrations become much more severe making my passenger seat bounce back and forth.

The spacers are the V3 spacers from corner garage. Anyone have any input on what to check or what could be causing this?

Alignment? Usually needed after lowering. + I'm sure the spacers didn't help if you didn't get an alignment.

Check your factory studs.

They might be too long that contact your rims (also depends one what rims you have). So that your wheels can not be installed correctly. There will be a gap between wheel and rotor because the factory studs push the wheels outward.

If everything is good, re-install everything to make sure that they are installed and torqued properly.

I assume you're using the spacers to push out the stock wheels? If so...if you're using the nuts/bolts that comes with our cars....it might not be sufficient.

I think I actually received one of the first batches of the newly designed V3 spacers at corner3. When they were installing it, the tech noticed that the spacer studs were too long for the stock nuts to be used. So we fixed that problem by using Muteki extended closed lug nuts. It's been 10k miles since I been running the spacers, no issues whatsoever.

which wheels are you on?

So I got a chance to check it today. The back wheels contact the spacer and hub perfectly, but the front looks like the wheel is not contacting the spacer fully.

I have the Blue Series STI wheels. I will have to wait until Saturday to pull them off and see whats contacting to prevent a flush mounting point. I am using the lugs it came with which are open ended generic lugs.

The front are 20mm spacers too.

Would not drive without the wheel/spacer/hub all sitting flush and suggest to remove spacers until you can remedy.

There may not sufficient room behind the wheel where the original studs are coming into contact with the wheel.

I am not going to drive it until I fix it. I will post results this weekend in case anyone else runs into this.

I literally just bought this setup yesterday but with the H&R Trak spacers, so I'm very interested to hear what is causing your issue. Did you get an alignment after the install?

Sounds like you may have cross threaded a lug nut or not tightened them down completely.

Alright well I found the culprit.

The front spacer lugs are not seating into the spaces on the back of the wheel. I don't know if its a matter of getting different lugs or spacers. Here are the some pictures to help you understand, you can see where the lug nut was pressing into the back of the wheel. Anyone have some input?

After looking on the manufacturers website I noticed it says "will not fit STI models" I guess I overlooked that not thinking about how I have the blue series STI wheels.

If you look at the picture of the OEM wheel it has much larger recesses and the spacer + lug does in fact fit.

So anyone know what bolt on spacer I can use with my blue series wheels? A quick google search and someone said the only ones that fit for 20mm are H&R and B2Designs, can anyone confirm this?

A couple options.
1. add another spacer. 5mm or so. sandwich it between the bolt on spacer and rotor.
2. find a shorter lug nut.
3. machine down the hole on the spacer which the lug nut sits on a few mm.

I would do #1 or try to return the 20mm, order another pair or 25 or 30mm(and put the 25 you have on the rear on the front). Too many spacers makes it look really sketchy/unsafe.

I think I am going to purchase the 20mm from b2designs and just sell the set I have.

So if anyone needs 20mm spacers I will hook it up cheap.
