What kit is that?
Is there a plate to block off the stock 3rd brake light? Thanks! |

I bought the "Mustang" kit from American Muscle. $49'ish. Forum post: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72225 I bought the pre-cut felt pads from the 86'er on the Forum who is selling his Carbon Fiber version (search the Forum). the three pads are peel'n'stick and go over the flat areas of the three mounting points on the rear deck. Forum post: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=87886 You'll still see the depressions. Not a 100% solution for me. I'm going to talk to a local auto upholstery shop to see how much it would cost to have them re-cover the entire rear deck -- do a child seat mount delete at the same time for a clean rear deck. Maybe a good wrap job would work too. The pad solution works for now. Aside from the cool look from outside-rear... the cleaner view out the back window is great! |
@Bernie
As if the install wasn't a great way to start a Thursday, Brandon @ S-Zone told me, "Next to Bernie's ride, I like your's next best..." :cheers:

The aftermarket high mount light looks 1000% cleaner than the factory.

Did the shop have to slightly shape the "mustang" light to the rear window or did it sit flush against the glass without any light leak?

Update: 9:00 pm.... nope... no leaks that I can tell. From some reflections I saw on a nearby wall, I can tell that the light bar is BRIGHT |
Rear Deck
A quick shot showing the view out the back... I'm going to have to have the rear deck wrapped or re-covered... the OEM mount hole areas are going to bug me...

Cool, I was actually going to order one but just wanted to make sure the plastic matches the bend of the glass to create a nice seal. I've been debating on ordering the 49 dollar one or pulling the trigger on the one made by the guy who sells them on here. Thanks for the pics and point of view. Looks great by the way.
