For the life of me, I can't seem to disconnect the 3rd brake light.

This little wire connecting the 3rd brake light I want to disconnect but for the life of me I can't seem to get it un-hooked. It seems like it should be pretty easy but mine seem to be stuck. Anyone have a video or can explain how to unconnect this thing?

Are you trying to disconnect the item from the body of the car or just from the plastic connector?

I am trying to disconnect the plastic connector shown in the picture.

Yes, that connector is in the trunk, underside of package shelf.

You simply must push in, from the side of connector (towards the center of the connector) on what appears to be (yet is not) two tiny prongs of white plastic. You must push in thoroughly to get it to unlock. Once unlocked, the two halves of the connector pop apart easily. I simply used the fingernail of my smallest finger.
a tiny screwdriver would do also...toothpick...point of a pen, etc.

Note: there is no double lock (as on some cars) for this connector...just one...what you see.

i shoved a flathead 'precision screwdriver' in there to release it

Why are you trying to disconnect it? It's a safety device that is mandated by law.

Scissors. Cut and splice.

This did the trick, thank you.

There is a loose piece of plastic making some un-godly rattling noise inside of the third brake light. I am trying to disconnect it and safely remove said plastic piece.
