What purpose does the window auto-scroll serve?
Every time you open/close the door, it automatically scrolls down and up. What is the purpose of doing this? When the battery on my FR-S died and the auto scroll feature stopped working, there was absolutely no problem opening/closing the door without the auto scroll mechanism which makes me think it's a tad useless? As many people have mentioned already, the auto scroll is pinching the weather strip on many of our cars which is a nuisance. So is there a way to disable it or would this be a bad idea?

I'm surprised you didn't notice a difference, most people experience a popping as the window catches on the door frame with the autoscroll disabled (happens on frozen windows), it seats up inside a lip to reduce any chance of water/elements from getting in.

It is to help release pressure when closing the door so it isn't hard to close.

hmm... still not a fan of window indexing - at least on this car (I've had the seal roll-up problem once).

It is a useless function. If you live in a climate where it snows, it will eventually jam and leave your window down a bit on a snowy night.
I will never buy another car with this feature unless I move south. The only way I know to disable it leaves me without an interior light. |
The people who bitch about window indexing are generally the same people who would bitch about the wind noise if the car did not have window indexing.
Some cars with this feature have the option to turn it off. I wonder if there is a switch in Techstream that will disable it. |

On my Nissan Xterra (which is also a tightly-made car - even after 15 years!) the doors can be very difficult to close without slamming. And on those occasions where a window is slightly lowered, my wife and I always accidentally slam the doors out of habit, to the point where it sounds like the window is about to shatter! |
