experiences with ACT SB7-XTSS
Hi, I bought a 2,000 Miles used Clutch for a small price . Can anyone tell me his experiences with the ACT - SB7 XTSS . My concern is for mainly by the lighter flywheel and freer revving the engine . Includes Clutch Rattle expected in this kit?

No one any Idea?

You get less "creature comforts" with a slightly lighter flywheel. The car becomes much more raw with the Prolite flywheel and "chatter" is expected (as is with any lightweight flywheel). The Streetlite has plenty of meat to run just fine. Make sure to use brand new throwout and pilot bearings for your install. |
I don't personally have any issues with mine. Its a streetlight not prolight. Its a Disc not a puck. Its heavier but not QQ heavy my leg wants to fall off.

My Problem is, i canīt buy any ACT Parts in Europe. I must order the Parts in the USA for a minimum of additional 50$ shipping coasts. I donīt found any seller with cheap shipping prices. |
Not sure where people get this "chatter" from we have 4 cars in house with the ACT set ups and all on the light flywheels with no chatter. Make no sense how people are getting that noise. Maybe a bad install on the TOB?

What is your idle set to? I only got chatter with stock idle when the AC kicked on. I have since raised my idle to 900rpm and it's noisy (probably LWFW amplified by alum ds) but rarely chatters anymore. |
Some chatter is expected and normal with lightweight flywheels.
ACT recently revised their flywheels, and the latest generation of flywheels have improved their NVH, as well as their driveability. The revised prolite flywheels JUST arrived on the 18th, and we already have one in our BRZ. There is chatter when you are not on the clutch pedal, in neutral, idling. No other noise. The revised streetlite is due at the end of Sept, and will have no chatter at all. If you've driven a STi, the XDSS has approximately the same pedal weight, but without as large of a decreasing force as you hit the bottom of the clutch stroke. The CSG BRZ is now on a XDSS. |
My experience, I have the street lite flywheel(900 rpm idle) and I chatter when idling with AC on. The pedal effort is slightly increase but once used to it you won't be able to tell the difference. The clutch is more grabby of course when engaging but nothing drastic.
I'm having some issues with mine where first gear and other gears as well get a little harder to push in when the car has been driving for a while. Then again judging by others experiences I'd say I have a problem with my car. I also get a shaking, not always, when taking off in 1st gear or moving in 1st, meaning engaging moving and disengaging... |
Anyone knows the original thickness of the Clutch disc from this Kit? My Clutch disc is used and has Face-to-Face thickness from 8.2mm. Is it okay or must change before install?
