Mass Air Flow (MAF) delete w/ OFT?
 
Hey everyone, I’ll be honest and state that this is my first post on this forum. But I’ve been actively keeping up with the community and following every lead that I can, and I’ve finally hit a dead end.
So I’m looking at doing a MAF delete kit on my FRS. I was hoping that someone knew a tune in RomRaider to accomplish this task. Now, I have it tuned to where it can run without the MAF plugged in or installed on the car, but I have a constant CEL with the error codes; P0102, P0451.

Why do I want to do this? Well I’ll tell you why, happy reader!

BECAUSE BOOST!!!

I’m running an Innovate supercharger that’s been rebuilt to run at 15psi. The bottom end has been completely rebuilt and yes it can handle 15psi with meth injection… (Yes, my car does drugs.)
What I don’t want to do is run an extremely long intake pipe that weaves across the engine bay twice. I want a simple, basic, clean installation and I’d rather not deal with all the extra piping… and I want MORE POWER!
So my question to everyone is;
Does anyone know the best way to tune for a MAF delete with an OFT and RomRaider?
Hell, if anyone has a link to useful information, I’d take that as well. I’ve done everything myself so far and I’m not going to take it into a shop to get it tuned and never know how they did it or be able to replicate it on my future tunes, unless i absolutely have to. (Not saying that a tuning shop won’t show me. I do have COBB tuning just 30 min away from me. )

Why not simply extend your MAF harness?

How are you going to know how much air is going into the engine without a MAF sensor... You know since it is the Mass Air Flow sensor... And the intake air temp sensor. Unless something has changed while I was on vacation none of the open source stuff for this platform had speed density yet...

And that's why I'm asking, lol. The tuning wont be a problem without a MAF sensor. there's still plenty of ways to calculate how much air is going into the engine.
And that also answers a big question of, "can it be done?" It's a little difficult to tune it if the program cant do it.

Anyone have an idea of a program that can do a Speed Density tune or a Blow-Through MAF set-up?

I know Ecutek can do speed density, also custom mapping so you can send your post blower IAT sensor data to the ECU

Wouldn't a blow through be fairly difficult since the sprintex blower is in the manifold?

Sweet! I know a few guys around here that run Ecutek tunes, I'll have to pick at them and play with the program a bit.

And yes... it would be bloody horrid to tune... It was more if a general, open-ended question in hopes for more answers.

I think you'd be better off implementing the MAF and running it as normal. I think it'll be easier to tune and you'll therefore be better out the other side.

If thats the case, it looks like my best option is the Perrin BIGMAF COLD AIR 3" Intake.. and have an intestine for an intake lol.

unless anyone knows of a better option for sprintex/innovate superchargers.
Or maybe a relocation kit and an aftermarket MAF? :0

Find a local fabricator and have them make you an intake. You'll need to do MAF scaling after that, and then the ECU programming works as advertised.

@ztan has written a speed density patch for opensource he is turbo though

its hybrid SD so i believe uses maf at lower range

My SD patch was made for A01G - you'll need to port the code over to your own ROM and verify that the RAM addresses that you use are clean; just be aware that the OFT ROMS often have some code (LC/FFS) in the ROM area that I placed my SD routine in.

Let me know if you need copies of my ROM or def files.

Is it a 210? If so then I doubt removing the intake tube will net you any real gains, but may be a pig to drive. Most will tune SD so that it's only active when on boost, which isn't when cruising. This SC doesn't lend itself well to a fully SD tune from what I've heard and that's the advantages of the hybrid MAF/SD setups from ECUtek or Ztan's patch.

As others have said, an alternative would be a custom tube for a MAF but you want a cold air source for a PD blower, otherwise it'll end up being detrimental to the rotors long term. All in, I'd be looking at something that takes air from behind the bumper somewhere.

Once again, thank you to everyone. I'm enjoying the feedback and I've sparked a few leads locally here in Oregon that will help get the ball rolling.
My idea for the cold air intake, and why I didn't want an intestine of tubing, is to run a straight pipe from the throttle body, down into the bumper behind the passenger side headlight, utilizing the hole that's already there.

I'll take pictures and run a quick sketch of what I'm planning for anyone who wants a visual map of the project.
