OFT Idea

Hi All,

Just an idea, after I got the OFT I found mounting it more/less an issue and after looking at other peoples idea it just seem like it was in the way.

So the idea is to have a setting/mode created to reverse the image and use the OFT as a HUD and place a reflective film on the windscreen. eg.

Not my image, just a quick google search.

ive noticed, that mounting the OFT is kinda a pain in the a**, like the idea a lot, maybe someone will go through with it!

Nice idea if the OFT was a display-only item. The problem is that you often need to touch the screen to change modes/channels/datalog/etc,. An on-top-of-dash placement would make that difficult.

Any plan on upgrading the device to something like Cobb Accessport device?

Would it be possible to have the display settings saved so that when you start the car you can press a button and it will load your pre-set gauges and flip the screen?

I don't see why not. If someone can test the viability of windshield reflection display, we can work on this.

Cheers,

The problem I with trying to make it like a HUD is you end up with a double image similar to this. http://i849.photobucket.com/albums/a...ps8jbuwdrk.jpg

Is it supposed to reflect off the plastic?

I just put an order for this im hoping it will yield a different result.

Upgraded looks comes last :). In terms of functionality, I think the OFT is already at the top of the heap. This isn't to say that the hardware won't evolve over time.

All good! Was just curious. :)

I think the double reflection is caused by the windshields construction. The original image from the device would need two images to be off slightly, so that when it reflects in the windshield they line up. I might be wrong but that's how I've always understood it.
