Possible new Owner

Im going to look at a new 2016 FRS tomorrow and am considering trading my Cayman S if the numbers all work out.

If I decide to purchase the car are there any problem areas I should look at prior to taking delivery.

The Cayman is a spectacular car but the cost of ownership is expensive. Career changes have led to less disposable income. But im still looking for a well handling car.

For the 2016 models? I haven't read of any issues pertaining to those as of yet. Tagging @stevesnj since you are the only one on here that I've seen with the '16. Any issues you encounter upon delivery?

I have 560 miles on it and so far no issues.

Do not have the dealer wash it

My 2013 FR-S is white and I find it does not show dirt too badly here in the PNW.

I can second this - mine was covered in swirl marks. Not bad ones, but still. I mean, you'll have swirl marks eventually, no matter how carefully you wash. But they should be YOUR swirl marks, not the ones made by the trained monkey with the dirty rag at the dealer.

Unfortunately cars here in the PNW get rained on and of the two im looking at both have likely already been prepped. So getting an unwashed car is unlikely.

For me... not a terribly big deal as I usually buy lightly used anyway.

Get paint protection film, mud guards, cam plate and all weather mats then you have a great start to keep it bone stock or ready for mods.

what year is your cayman S? Just be aware of the crickets which can be annoying. If the wont lower the price down, ask for a ton of goodies!

There's a cam port that passes oil to the Automatic transmission. Without an automatic transmission the port is just a leaky hole that's covered with a flat piece of metal held in place with three bolts and a glob of RTV which will leak and be a pain to figure out. If your dealership is smart enough that to find it they will just scrape off the old RTV and apply a new glob then send you on your way (where it'll probably happen the day after your warranty is up).

Here's the easy fix (this should be done on every manual twin -leaking or not):

The plate is billet aluminum with a raised center that plugs the hole with a high temp O ring to end leaks forever.
