New front sway, a little unstable on left turns
I installed a Hotchkis front sway with Perrin endlinks. I noticed on left turns, the car feels slightly unstable. On right turns, it's fantastic.
I noticed this first today on a left turning highway sweeper. The instability also popped up on a quick left hand turn on city roads. It's like the car is wanting to drift out of the line I decided to choose. The closest analogy I can think of is the feeling of torque steer. I torqued all bolts to spec so I'm not sure if that may be an issue. The only different things I've done was I had to rethread one hole and insert a helicoil into the crossmember that the driver's side sway bar mounting plate attaches to. I also grabbed a replacement bolt from Lowe's to replace a broken bolt. I'm also unsure if this is the new tires that were just put on either. Perhaps an alignment is needed? Perhaps the sway isn't perfectly centered? Could the sway being not centered cause this? It seem centered to me. But I can check again. |
Sounds like you're getting understeer. Is the front sway bar thicker than the one you had previously? Why do you have broken and stripped bolts? Alignment couldn't hurt, how much do you weigh? You could be the deciding factor on why right hand turns (with your weight on the outside tire) are working better than left hand turns (where your weight is on the inside tire).. How many miles do you have on the tires? What kind of tires are they?

It would be hard to get the Hotchkis front bar off center, it has welded on centering collars. End links the same length?
