What size tire should I run?

I'm sure there is a thread about this but I'm pretty new to the forums and needed some advice. last week I purchased a set of Avid 1 AV20's for my FRS. I went with a 18x8/9.5 setup. Anyway, I'm pretty knew to stretching tires so I needed some advice. I had a extra pair of Nexen N5000 tires that are 225/40 that I planned on putting on the back but I didnt know what tire to run up front. The smallest I could find was 205/40 but I wasnt sure if those would look the same up front on the 18x8's as the 225's on the back. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. thankyou.

Why would you want to stretch your tires? (That's one of the stupidest automotive 'styles' ever.). 225/40 is good on an 8" width. 255/35 would be good on a 9.5" width. Keep in mind that tires are not all made the same though.

are you going to slam your car? are you going to be putting on spacers? are you going to dial in a lot of negative camber all around? those wheels have pretty conservative offsets and combined with anything other than dumping the car, stretched tires would look ridiculous and unnecessary. stretching tires came about to get the wheels fit, not just for the sake of stretching.

okay so if i put the 225/40 on the front what difference would putting 255/40's on the back make instead of 225/35's?

255/40/18 on back would be a LARGE tire.

More importantly, what is your suspension setup? You might be rubbing fenders/springs/struts.

We need to know suspension setup, and offset of your wheels before we can try and tell you which tire may/may not work.

Do 225/40 front and 255/35 rear. Those two sizes have very similar outside diameters and are pretty close to the OEM outside diameter.
