Installed Coils and Toe is really bad

Hey guys,

I wanted to get your guys opinion on this.

So today I installed Tein street flex with SPC lower control arms. When I was done, I took my car for a test drive. My car was going all over the road. When I got home, I noticed that the tow in the rear of the car was really bad. Any thoughts on this? I have lowered many vehicles and my 86 is the first one to ever to be this bad after install.

Get an alignment.

always get an alignment after swapping out suspension parts. try to avoid long distance driving so that you don't ruin your tires due to the out of spec toe.

I'm in the same boat. Street Flex and SPC Arms too. Alignment will solve everything but I can afford to wait until my wheels come in since my commute is relatively not far.

Driving any vehicle while misaligned is a recipe for trouble. Lower speeds are ok but keep it off of the highway, please.

Mom says get an alinment too, apparently.

Because I just installed today, do I need to worry about doing this again if I decide to lower the vehicle further?

Get an alignment first. Then we'll talk.

yes you will. every time you adjust the height of your car through your coilovers, it adjusts your whole suspension. however, I would say drive your car locally for like a few days before getting an alignment. give your springs time to settle in. you will find that your car will be slightly lower than when you first installed your coilovers.

So in other words, I need to get the suspension dialed in on how low I want my vehicle to be and can't adjust it without spending another $80?

What exactly is the issue here? You need an alignment to fix the rear toe...

As for whether or not you want to adjust further, you just have to ask yourself how much are your tires worth.

It's pretty simple. Set your ride height the way you want it. Drive for a few days to let the springs settle. Go get an alignment. If you change your ride height, you'll need to get another alignment.

Work out a deal with your alignment man. I've been going to the same guy for the last 5 years for all off my cars. He has a 3k mile warranty where he'll recheck the alignment and set it back to the initial specs for free.
