All my 1/2j swaps

For those who went with Exessive motor mounts, any issues for the vvti ?

They say that those mounts don't work with the VVTI blocks with only the forward mount locations. I have a non-VVTI and they work fine but I'm unsure if the VVTI blocks have multiple mounting locations?

used a non vvt setup, could run into hood clearance issues possibly.

Why does your subject line have nothing to do with your post?

PolishFrs13 06-02-2015 06:34 PM

Because it's only for those who have done a 1j or 2j swap using those mounts

I have the Xcessive mounts in my build ( @Ross is building my car). They're made sturdy, fit well, and are cheap.

The difference is in the heads. The non-VVTi blocks had an additional mounting point for the engine mounts further aft than the VVTi blocks... so as long as you have a non-VVTi short block, you should be good to go.

With that said... the amount of custom fabrication this build requires, it would be more cost beneficial to just make your own mounts to suit your needs since every build is different. Mine has full accessories, I think I'm the only one with that setup.

tl;dr - VVTi head, non-VVTi short block with these mounts should work no problem.

This subject line "All my 1/2j swaps," does not mean, "only for those who have done a 1j or 2j swap using those mounts "

Your subject line implies, "here are pictures or stories about all of the 1j and 2j swaps I have done"

:bonk:

The 2JZ VVTI motors should have both old and new mounting points on them. If you want VVTI just buy the whole VVTI motor and make your life easier. The newer blocks have the larger oil port for the VVTI oil line. You will need to get creative if you try and do this on the older block castings.

I've had both motors now in my Supra. HTH

I have a vvti 2jz .. Its 100% the same as the non vvti motors.. Has 6 holes for the engine mounts same as the non vvti blocks.. I have made my own nounts on my brz though

I made my own useing drift motion supra engine mounts then made the mount to bolt it to.. super easy and way cheaper with higher quality bushings
