Drop in filters.
Hello everyone i read alot about intakes and drop in filter and kost of the reviewrs were like dont fix an intake get a drop in filter for lower cost. My question is what drop in filter gives you the highest performance gains?
|
Most of them are similar on that account IIRC. Most will give you ~5whp, as most are less resistive then stock OEM one. TRD, K&N, aFe and others .. just take whichever brand you prefer/like most. I might be wrong, but most often i've seen mentioned K&N.

For the most part, more flow = less filtering.
Depending on conditions there and when you do your driving you might be better off changing your oem filter every 10k kilometers. |
Some info for you.

I run the HKS super hybrid filter on my STX RX8 build and love it. It is a completely different style of filter element from that of K&N and other major players in the drop in filter world. It is foam with 3 different density layers. The flow and filtration seem to be the best of both worlds. Plus there is no oiling involved, which if others are over oiled can cause damage to MAF sensors.

I have a K&N Filter + Mishimoto Silicone Filter Tube + Remove Sound tube.
The combination is quieter, and you only feel a slightly power bump, and slight is putting it in a good way. |
It is always interesting the people that shake their head at drop in filters. To each their own. Some people only want to spend a little money on something that may help just a little. You don't always have to always spend a few hundred or the time on a full intake. Everyone's use is different. Not to mention now a days OEM air boxes are getting better and better flow. There are many posts around here staying that a full intake doesn't do all that much on NA builds.

Use perrin myself. Differences are negligible. There is a thread comparing them

I bought this and couldn't be happier fitment is great, and its half the price of the perrin tube + a k&N filter.
