Frozen windows
Yeah, it's summer in the northern hemisphere, but this has been kind of bugging me... I had the problem last year with power windows freezing and tripping the window switch, so I got it fixed at the local dealership under warranty - no problems there. New switch, seals, and some other parts I forget right now... Anyways, this winter the same thing happens - the windows freeze. Only this time because of the updated parts and software, the windows don't stall - they keep trying to go down, and so they eventually tore up the new window seals/wipes (at the bottom of the window, where the glass meets the door). All the felt tore off. I brought it back to the dealere to have it logged, but decided to wait until warm weather to have it fixed again.
So, it's warm weather now and I want them replaced. Is the dealership going to replace it with the same parts that will freeze and destroy themselves again this winter? Eventually something else will break if this happens every year, not to mention my warranty will expire at some point down the road... Or is there a better solution? |
Based on my exposure to this, Scion is not overly interested in the problem and is just going to wait out the warranty period. Then they will be most attentive as long as you pay for the repair. "Normal Wear and Tear".

There were two separate TSBs for this. Make sue they do both. I had them done and never had an issue once all winter (even though I live a few blocks from Nohome)
|
If only Subaru would publish that second TSB too :(

The window issue was one of those common annoyances I decided to accept from my research before buying the car. To my surprise I noticed 0 problems with the windows freezing during the whole season. I think they fixed it on the '15 model.

No luck at the Halifax dealer trying that, going to try that again in Saint John. Halifax just said "cannot reproduce issue" and sent me on my merry way. |

Do you have those numbers handy? I printed out the TSB (the one outlining the three levels of repair, based on VIN) and brought it in for them the first time; they were quite accommodating and did the work well, but from their reaction it seemed like it was the first time they'd read anything about the issue, so I'd rather be prepared this time around again. |

Ah-haa! I had the one dated Jan 9 2014, but not the April rev. Thanks for the pointer - never noticed the sticky before... |
