245/40 on 17x7?

Sorry for another one of these questions! But it will be the first true summer with this car and I've been struggling on deciding what size of tire I should go for. I have settled with the Michelin's PSS.

A buddy of mine has recommended 245/40s in comparison to the 225/45 and 235/45.

What are your thoughts?

I think you should read the tire specs and look and the minimum wheel width.

You're tinkering around the same specs that most CS cars run in autocross. Most tire shops won't install that btw, it's a lot of tire for not a lot of rim. Plenty of documentation about how CS cars are doing that a search will pull up.

In my opinion, a 225 would be better suited. Also in my opinion, a 245 is way overkill for stock power. Just my 2 cents.

215's on a 7" wheel, 225 at the absolute max. Going too wide on a narrow wheel will make it mushier, and doesn't give of crisp of steering feel.

If you want 245's, get 9" wide wheels.
