Raceseng | AC Delete Product Release and Introductory Offer
We are proud to introduce the Raceseng AC Delete for the Scion FR-S, Subaru BRZ and Toyota GT86. The AC Delete is for the tuner and racer that is looking to get the most power out of their FA20 engine. Not only is the AC compressor very heavy, it robs precious horsepower from your engine. This high quality kit helps you regain lost horsepower by eliminating the stock AC compressor and condenser. The AC Delete is a direct bolt-on solution comprised of a lightweight billet aluminum base and bracket that features a bearing mounted pulley.

Cool product! This might be an obvious question, but I'm not looking at my accessories belt now... Why should someone choose this versus trying to find a belt that just fits with no a/c? Also have you done any dyno testing to show the increase in power to the wheels?
|
Another question, how does this affect all the electrical items in the car? I know the defroster uses the AC to get the moisture out of the air, will any check engine lights come out of not having the AC wired up anymore?
|
Is it true the A/C de-clutches when it is not in use and when ON but WOT? So the AC doesn't rob power in both those scenarios?
I see this as a weight savings mod and a way to make room for future dry sump! :respekt: |
Another beautifully engineered Raceseng product.

What does the A/C delete weigh compared to the compressor? Im certain a lot less but just curious.

Wanted to add my feedback to this thread. We have been using the prototype Raceseng AC delete bracket on our race car since about November of last year and have had zero issues. The Raceseng bracket is much lighter than the JDM bracket we were using (see photos). Especially the pulley itself. I can say we have had zero issues to date with our Raceseng bracket and we have done over 10 full races on it, in addition to a full 2 hour endurance race. Totally proven product.
Here's some shots from comparing it to our JDM piece: http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...pszzarlxen.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...psfhs5clsy.jpg http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y11...psejuedfrt.jpg |

I believe the belt routing needs to wrap under the top idler pulley and up around the AC pulley, then down to the water pump. Your post got me thinking at first!
We did not do dyno testing because this product spawned from the one-off prototype we made for Speedhunters Scion Tuner Challenge build. I know this will be a low volume product so I need to be careful about how much upfront time we put into it. http://www.raceseng.com/wp/wp-conten...c-delete-1.jpg http://www.raceseng.com/wp/wp-conten...c-delete-3.jpg http://www.raceseng.com/wp/wp-conten...c-delete-4.jpg http://www.raceseng.com/wp/wp-conten...c-delete-5.jpg Quote:

The AC compressor has one electrical connection running to it. We have not experienced a CEL light since we've had this installed.
