2013 BRZ Limited - Bluetooth connectivity issue

My BRZ and Note 4 have been problematic for awhile. Seems like it's connecting and disconnecting very randomly.

Is anyone having a similar issue? Any idea on how to fix this?

Am I the only one!?

I used to have similiar issues with random disconnects. Try going into bluetooth settings on the headunit and deleting your phone then reconnecting. Used to work for me

Join the club. I gave up on it. I'll try again when I replace the HU with a Pioneer AVH-X5700BHS (hopefully this week). There are some things to try. You can change settings like whether the deck connects to the phone, or the phone connects to the deck. My HTC One (M7) would always disconnect after I received a text message..

There are LOTS of people that have had it though.

Ah.. so it wasn't just me.

Man, is this really that difficult to figure it out? Come on Toyota/Subaru! :(

It could be a phone issue.... My iPhone started doing it after I updated my iPhone last month....

Mine will randomly lose the ability to select artists or tracks through the radio. I have to turn the phone's Bluetooth off and on again, and turn the radio off and on again, and then it works.

I think I found a fix for this, my Nexus 5 was connecting and disconnecting randomly for MONTHS until I tried this.

Start up the car and connect your phone.

Go to the "Phone" tab and a dialpad should show up. Underneath that there should be a tab marked "Settings"

Go in there and turn auto connect off. You'll have to turn your phone's bluetooth on every time you enter your car, but its better than the alternative.

Will post pics/DIY on request.

This is a good suggestion.. very possible that it's the auto connect that's causing all of the issues! How long has it been since you've had a connect/disconnect issue?

I just tried this and within 10 minutes my phone had disconnected & reconnected.. Happened when my phone received an email.. I just turned off more things and I'll test it later. I turned off using the car as a headset (just music) and turned off the auto update phone book portion.. Let's see if this piece o crapola works as JUST a bluetooth music connection.

No problems with my Iphone 4 when I had it, Iphone 5, Note 3 and Galaxy Nexus. All connect fine soon as I go into the car. '13 BRZ in Canada with the Pioneer HU

The autoconnect was the problem for me.

Go into the settings and disable it.
Load Bluetooth menu on phone and click on multimedia player or whatever your car is.
It will take a second to connect.
Done.

Takes about 10 seconds and has never fucked up once.
