Pentosin or Motul gear 300
So I have pentosin in my car right now it feels good but I feel that it's to thin for me to be tracking. I want to try motul but i have read mix reviews about them. What is your opinion on both these oils and should I just stick with oem oil instead??
|
motul 300 hands down. I and MANY others have switched to it, and I will continue to use this in the future.
|
You could also try Redline MTL. It's the same viscosity as OEM. Motul was horrible in my transmission, and Pentosin is much better. I don't track my car.

motul gear 300 here. I changed at 5600miles and it feel less notchy going into second as more time passes. at 7k now. It could also be the warmer weather.

Motul 300
I have Motul 300 and I feel it's not worse than oem in the cold and feels smooth since I do a lot of heel-toe, blipping, matching the speed before engaging the gear. Also read good things on Pentosin for cold shifts, and Motocraft XT-M5-QS for track and daily driving.
Ever since I got the car, main problem for me is 3rd gear and not 2nd gear like most. Do you guys think I should go with Motul 300 for the diff also? |

We use the Motul Gear 300 75w90 in both our street cars as well as our track cars right up to our Spec86 Cup Wheel to Wheel Race Car.
It is also the fluid we use in all our customer cars for their gear oil and rear diffy fluid changes. Probably have 50-100 FRS/BRZs running around with this fluid in them that we installed over the past 2 years. We also offer a 4 Liter package shipped for $85 so let us know and we can get you setup with it. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/153798190.jpg Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Enthusiasts since 2001. Thanks for your guys input, I will try out motul this weekend to find out for myself. I let you guys know how it feels compared to pentosin. Since I drive hard this oil should be a no brainer I guess

i had the opportunity to try both. i prefer the motul fluid

I highly recommend Millers Oils CRX 75W90 NT. At the risk of sounding like I'm evangelizing, it's remarkable and totally unique in the marketplace and worth researching. It's expensive, but it works very well in our Aisin transmission.

Switch to motul and loving it much more then the pentosin. Everything is butter now
|
I've used Motul 300 and Amsoil severe gear, and Motul 300 is better by a large margin. it's so good that I actually have no complaints about it, and have no desire to try anything else. Shifts are slick and smooth at any temperature, on the street or at the track.

(Magnetic Plug before and after pics below). It feels way better! To describe it, everything spins freely now. Now it really feels like a RWD car. Launches are better, rises quicker even under normal driving launches. ..I found myself giving it more clutch between shifts sometimes it spins too freely. |
