do the direct injector seals need to be replaced?
like somebody mentioned that the spark plugs need to be changed after 60k miles, i was wondering if the direct injection seals would need to be replaced as well?
my biggest anxiety is about driving this car and having one of my direct injector seals going out. my car is turbocharged with an Avo kit, and i pray that that wont kill the lifespan on the seals. |
Well, like they say in the old country ..... if they ain't broke, why fix em .... ??

With the failure rates i've seen on those seals from just this forum plus 60,000 miles and you're running boost. Just change them and feel good that they are new! |

What about if you get mugged while walking down the street? What if the dealership actually covers that under warranty?! For obvious reasons if you don't have any experience working with *eyerolls* High fuel pressure. Then take it to someone who can do the repair properly. I work on 30,000psi fuel systems everyday as a tech services engineer. the direct injector seals are not really something I would consider difficult to replace. Maybe a little bit time consuming at best because of their location. |

The procedure for replacing DI seals is such a PITA that many shops and dealerships will refuse to do the work unless symptoms of failure are obvious. So just keep an eye on any CELs or audible knocking.

This. If you think it's going to be some easy thing to do, you're gonna have a bad time. Watch some videos on people actually doing the repair and see that it's not something you'll want to do unless absolutely necessary. |
The question I'm asking is if the di seals should be replaced at a curtain amount of miles? How often am I suppose to swap them out?
|
The answer that you've been given is no, they don't need to be replaced at any certain mileage Unless symptoms of their failure start showing up.
If your tune is right I don't think you'd ever realistically need to change them. |
