Custom Valved Koni Front Struts and Rear Shocks
Shocks and Struts are SOLD
Well, I'm not competing the BRZ in SCCA CS this year and won't be needing my custom Koni's. The rears are 2 year old OTS Koni SA's that have been recently refurbished and custom revalved by Koni USA. They have 2 weeks of street use on them since the refurb. The fronts are brand new SA full struts also custom revalved by Koni USA. They have never been installed. The valving was set by Koni based on my intended use description - SCCA street class autocross - aggressive low speed compression and rebound damping with the most digressive damping possible in these bodies. While I did ask for plots with the revalving, I guess I should've been more 'lawyerly' because what I got were traces right off the plotter with no units/numbers/etc(!). These are pictured below. Qualitatively, (1) there is no cross talk on the rebound adjustment to the compression side, (2) the compression side is REALLY digressive, (3) there is a LOT of fairly digressive rebound adjustment to work with, and (4) they are well matched R-L. It's been two years, but when I switch from stock to OTS I didn't notice much, if any, difference on the street. Even with just the rears, I definitely notice a difference between these and OEMs. Koni's quote for the package was $1270, but they came in a little lower - I'm pricing them at $1050 OBO delivered to the lower 48. Shocks and Struts are SOLD
I had a question/concern about the spring seats and the apparent corrosion on them. These did go through two PA winters and the seats did pick up a fair amount of surface rust. They still seem solid to me. Replacements are reportedly available from Koni if you are uncomfortable with them. Here are a couple more pics of one after I spent about 5 minutes cleaning it up with a wire wheel (and with the pic taken in better lighting): http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...192959495a.jpg http://i24.photobucket.com/albums/c2...193019588a.jpg |
Good luck with the sale!
I wish these were available last month when I purchased Koni dampers. Now that I've driven on OTS Koni struts and shocks, I kind of want them revalved. |
