Curb hit

I have a little bit dilemma here, just want to get some answers from you guys.

> Was trying to get some food from McDonald, wheel hits curb (wasn't paying attention), now my steering wheel is off center. Is slightly tilted to the left. At highway speed (55 mph - 70 mph), the steering center is NOT shaking, nor is my car pulling to the side that much (very very little).

What could be the problem?

Appears you may need an alignment but have the mechanic to verify no other parts are damaged.

PBlack09 03-29-2015 11:33 PM

Sounds like an alignment problem.

FRSure 03-29-2015 11:34 PM

Yeah. Definitely need an alignment! Just wanted to make sure that no other parts are broken. I hit the curb around.. 7-10mph?

Ran over one of these when turning my car.

Could have bent a tie rod. Have the shop check when you take it in for an alignment

Car is totaled.

j/k
At slow speed most likely nothing is broken, possibly a bent tierod, an alignment shop should help you out, just mention to them which corner you hit and maybe they can double check.

Gonna give PTuning and MachV Motorsports a call tomorrow.

What are the chances that something else is broken?

Those two shops are good. Chances are they will be able to help you fix everything back to 100%

Like others have said, most likely a bent tie rod if anything. Tie rods are usually the weakest part and are the first thing to get bent and messed up when you hit something like a curb. It's unlikely you bent your Lower Control Arm at only 7-10mph and you would probably feel more shaking and vibrations in the steering wheel if you did.

PTuning and MachV are both known as reputable shops around these parts so you're in good hands. Luckily a Tie Rod is a pretty cheap and easy fix relatively speaking! Should cost you a couple hundred dollars.

Ran over this going almost 35mph (slowed down for it). Saw a car backing up in the distance thinking, "What is he do--SHHHEEEEE---!" These are the problems when its dark, 0430, your friend booked the only flight in the morning, and he asked for a ride to the airport. Long story short, I pulled off, made sure nothing was cracked/broken (amazes me nothing was), and verified the alignment was not compromised. Just had an inspection and nothing was reported wrong.

Yeah I'd imagine running over the top half of a Suburban might do some damage.

Seriously though, what is that you hit? Railroad tracks?
