cams oem?

A friend of mine with a civic went and got bigger cams out of a honda element fitting exact , how do you know if a cam out of another engine will fit in my frs if anything.

Nothing affordable. Besides, cam work, especially for the FA20 is a royal pain in the ass.

Pour octane boost in the gas tank and 6" muffler tips.

Is that just because you would have to pull the engine to do it? If I was going to the expense of cams I would be pulling it to get the heads ported anyway.

OP, the FA20 hasn't been around long enough to have a range of cams from different OEM applications available. The FB20 may have similar cams as may the FA20DIT. I would expect both of those engines to have a milder grind and without Toyota's D4S they may have a completely different setup in the head anyway. Custom or hopefully eventually aftermarket cams will be the only real way forward for NA builds in the short to medium term.

I've already contacted Kelford cams. They aren't making any, if they do they will make it for FI applications.

That includes a lot more than cams, but gives a good explanation.

This motor isn't exactly your typical motor where you can drop in some cams and add an exhaust and get 50 whp.

The best NA gains are from the exhaust, and an E85 or race gas tune. If you're willing to spend the money; stroke and bore kits.

Yes, its because you'd need to pull the engine. With a Civic, or most any inline 4, it'd be much easier than the FA20. Thats all I was saying.
