[Question] Do wide angle kits help in Autocross/HDPE?
I have only read about autocross and was just looking for guidance on wide angle kits and if the have any affect on Autocross/HDPE driving. Thanks.

I've never seen an autocross course that was so tight you needed more steering lock to make a turn, and if you're hanging the tail wide enough you need more opposite lock you're going much slower than you could be.

If you use one you'd be put in a ridiculous class for autocross. The key to performance driving is minimizing steering.

If you're using modded knuckles, you'll get more steering with smaller inputs, as the spindle arm is shortened. You'll also decrease the amount of Ackerman, which you may not want in an Autox scenario.
If you're just using tie rods, no because you're just letting the rack travel further, meaning the wheel will require slightly more rotation from lock to lock. Furthermore, because the way the front is designed, if you add more steering angle, you'll encounter sway bar endlink bind. You'll need to either use a setup that mounts the endlink to the LCAS or ditch the away bar entirely. In short: if you aren't drifting the car, don't bother. |
So...no.

Thank you for the information. Just trying to rationalize purchasing a wide angle kit, but not seeming rational now.
