CEL and Cruise Issue???

Started my RS1 this morning and the CEL was on. I'm just over 5k miles. No noticeable issues. Went ahead and took off. Approximately 10-15 miles later I notice my cruise control won't engage. The light is also orange (typically green). I stop, turn the car off and back on. CEL is off. Continue to drive and cruise control is now working.

Any ideas???

no concrete analysis can be made unless you're able to pull the CEL

Not sure what the problem is but your car goes into limp mode when the CEL is on, hence not being able to use cruise control you may possibly get a traction control light on as well. I had the same issue. Bought a catless header which resulted in this issue, not sure if you have aftermarket parts but if you do a tune is needed. hope this helps

No aftermarket parts, but thank you for the info. Much appreciated.

Idea: CEL prevents cruise from being used.

Solution: find out what caused the CEL and prevent it from coming on.

Could be as simple as a wet or dirty sensor or something as bad as an possible total failure and 1,000 things in between.
If it repeats take it in.

A CEL does not always mean limp mode, which is more than obvious when that is happening.

If you have any plans at all (or not) for mods, an OBD dongle and something like Carista is a must have for reading and clearing codes.

Have you gotten sideways, or done any donuts? Mine does the same thing sometimes when I slide it around, or do donuts. Turn the car off, start it back up, good to go. I think it has something to do with the stability control freaking out.
