17x9 Too wide for stock power?
Would running 17x9s be too wide for the stock power of the FRS?
I'm talking about mountain passes and precision handling. Would it be best to go with wheels with the same specs or would 17x9's be okay if the wheels were light, like RPF1s? |
I just mounted 17x9 RPF1's with 245/40 Dunlop ZII Star Specs two weeks ago. I felt little/no difference in acceleration since the wheel/tire combo weight is similar to stock.

I'm Stg 2, but for what it's worth, I felt no difference either, apart from A LOT more grip. However this could be misinterpreted by some, I'm sure, as a loss in power. It's a lot less tail happy now.

Question for the 17x9 people: have you noticed a change in gas mileage since you've put your wheels on?

Mine went down. Combined with the OFT, I'm having more fun! |
wheel size is one thing... you still need to factor in the type of wheel and weight, and tire size and stickiness.

17X9 is a wheel size.....
without know what tires you want to put on it there's really no way to answer your question. |
