Does a Front Pipe/Overpipe Really make that much of a difference???

I'm currently running the following Mods:

-Perrin CAI w/ inlet tube
-OFT w/93 tune
-Tomei Expreme UEL Header (catless)
-Perrin 2.5" Resonated Cat back system

Does adding the Overpipe/Front pipe combo really make that much more of a difference?? Is it worth the extra $$$? I've heard that the Header is really where you make most of your gains.

Soundwise it does, but not so much performance wise on N/A. Maybe a few horsepower just due to better flow/pipe diameter increase, but negligible.

some people say yes, some say no :P

You'll likely see better gains from the front pipe than from a cat-back, but a header will give better gains than both.

How about the overpipe alone? I have never been able to justify spending a few hundred dollars on such a small part of the exhaust.

most people just buy and feel good about it. even it helps very little, we just buy it. why? because we cannot help but modding

The answers to your questions are subjective. I thought the difference was
significant and worth the money. I am not saying the increase was much but every bit helps.
You are going to get different answers when asking for opinions :)

You, sir, just saved me $135 and for that you are the man.

To keep with the thread topic. The only reason I am buying an over pipe is bc having just one stock piece on my exhaust would kick start my OCD to the max. I do not expect a performance gain or sound difference.

People have said that replacing the stock front pipe with an aftermarket front pipe usually leads to better throttle response. I highly doubt it (because placebo effect), but it could be a possibility.

All depends on the rest of the exhaust. If you have a 3" header collector and 3" front pipe, the stock part is going to be a big restriction. If you have a stock header or stock front pipe it's going to be a minimal difference.

If/when I replace the header I'll do the front pipe, but not bothering until then.

Pretty sure there was a well respected tuner on here that said an OP was significant gain for FI engines. Not sure about NA. Front pipe maybe not so much.
