AuDM GT/JDM G brakes
I figured I should ask a brake related question in the brake related forum.
The Australian GT specification is similar to the Japanese G specification 86. This means they have 16" wheels and smaller brakes compared to the AuDM GTS/JDM GT/USDM FRS/global BRZ. Looks like you guys have figured out which Subaru the 17" brake package shares its part numbers with, but what about the 16" brake package? Are the calipers and pads the same as the 17"er? What other car uses the 16" car's discs? This is all I know of the Australian brake package: The GT and GTS also have front ventilated disc brakes, but the discs are different sizes: the GT has 277mm diameter fronts and 286mm rears, while the GTS has 294mm diameter fronts and 290mm rears. |

The "17 inch" brakes will still fit under 16" wheels.
The rear pads on the 16" brakes are different than the bigger brakes I think. They should be the same parts as the 08-11 Impreza and WRX. The front pads are the same, and uses the rotors from the regular non-turbo Impreza. That rotor size has been around since the 91 turbo legacy, and was on a ton of other cars. Here's just about anything anyone would want to know about stock Subaru brakes: http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=1265631 |
Wow, I never knew we peeps with 16s were getting smaller brakes too!
Gonna be a PITA finding pads now. :p |

I am also interested in the Part numbers. I have not received my 86 yet, so I am unable to check. I am looking at putting on bigger rotors (DBA 5000 T3 Series). If they are the same part number caliper and I just need a different rotor and possibly pads that would be ideal.

Gonna have to keep my eyes peeled on the Aussie threads for info I guess. :)

The best I can find is that the brake pads for the 277mm GT brakes are the same as the 294mm GTS brakes but that doesn't seem right to me. I had a quick look at the fronts on mine vs the fronts on a GTS and the caliper looks much smaller. It was a very quick look so I might be wrong.
Hawk list them as the same pad which means you can get the Hawk HP+ for track work. I'm still not convinced so it would be good if someone could confirm that this really is the case. Otherwise I will whip a pad out next year before the track work begins and let you all know. http://www.hawkperformance.com/docs/catalog-current.pdf |

Also remember that in the UK GT86 is the designation for the car that we have in Australia as the GTS so that will add some extra confusion outside of Australia. |

I don't understand why they felt the need to call the car so many different things. :bonk:
|
Is anyone able to confirm this is the case? I am only going to change the front pads anyway, the rears don't do enough to bother.
|
Can absolutely confirm that the front pads are the same on all models FR-S/BRZ/86 - rears vary.

Very old thread but i want to confirm.
Are the brake Pads for the Front same across the AUD GT vs the AUD GTS/FRS/BRZ? |
