rear end clunk in 1st

I have a 15 frs manual with about 1100 miles on it. sometimes when I put it in 1st when I am at a stop there is a loud clunking noise from the back of the car, seems like the rear end.

anyone else experience this issue?
anyone know what it could be?

This has been addressed numerous times. My 2013 FR-S still does this and it's normal. It's the nature of this Aisin transmission. Your car is not broken.

Not abnormal on many RWD cars. Just the system taking up the bit of slack that exists with all the components between the engine and the wheels.
Freaks out people that are used to FWD (that doesn't have all these drive train parts) all the time.

input shaft clunking from you engaging the tranny from a stop is normal and fine

Had it on my 13 FRS and have it with my 14 BRZ. It's normal, to avoid the "clunk" clutch and shift to neutral, then clutch shift into first, shouldn't clunk after that if you're that worried about it :)

ive noticed this as well, i usually get the clunk when traffic light turns green and im not ready for it. if it bothers you, i try to make a habit of clutch pedal in (down) for an extra second or so before moving shift lever into gear one.

Bingo. Have to give the input shaft a little bit of time to stop spinning as it's going from idle speed of the engine to a dead stop as it's put into gear.

Having only driven FWD my entire life I have picked up on this sound myself. Immediately figured it is the input shaft.
