Can I run 235 square tires on my staggered wheels?

Hi guys,

I originally wanted to stay with a 17in squared wheel setup with a 1in drop, but found a deal that was too good to say no to on an 18in staggered setup.

They are 18x8.5 et43 and 18x9.5 et35. I'm still very interested in staying with a squared tire setup if possible, and was wondering if that was possible or not. I figured it was only a full 1in difference in width, and if the tires were to meet in the middle it'd be like a 1/2 inch difference. Then with the install and mounting, it would visually be like a 1/4 inch difference.

So with that said, if this is possible what size tires would you guys recommend for visual aesthetics? I was considering a size of 235/40/18 all around, but what do you guys think? Pretty new at this, so if you guys can give me your input and advice that would be great!

235 might look pretty stretched on a 9.5.

235 or 245 will be perfect on an 8.5 rim, so you'll have one set of tires stretched and one not. Depending on how bad the stretch is it might not be the best visually.

Yea I know that 235 on the rear would be somewhat of a stretch, but figured it wouldn't be too bad. Would you recommend doing 245 all around instead?

I'd check the recommendation for the tire, but 245 would probably be better.

I would not recommend a 235 on a 9.5" wheel. 245 minimum, 285 maximum.

I know 225s are relatively stretched on 8.75" wheels, so I bet 235s on a 9.5" wheel would be pushing it...
Also, 235s are a weird size and it might be easier/cheaper to find 245s.

Hmm, sounds like 245 is the way to go if I want to do a square setup huh? In that case, what profile would you guys recommend? Just sticking with 40% or should I drop it down to 35%.

35% kind of brings it down to the stock overall diameter.

Staying close to stock is probably best. The 245-35-18s are closest. The 40s will be a bit tall.
