Help!! Diode Dynamic drls are melting??

Hey guys so i got these leds from @Diode Dynamics about 6+ months ago and they're fine and great but today when i was looking at them i noticed that something in it is melting? Anyone else have this problem? It now has this melted substance that's hardened and i can't even take my lights out.

Will email @Diode Dynamics immediately, I'm not bashing their products but I would love to hear some feed back on my down time waiting for their response.

Round of applause to DD, stuff happens and we as customers don't expect that but the response and help is what we all look for when it does

We will send you an upgraded set as a replacement for the SMD27 models you ordered at no cost.

This is a very unusual issue, and I sincerely apologize for the inconvenience

I'm actually more of the "Wtfs going on" feeling right now too lol. You've guys done great in helping my issues in the past but the problem is that I can't even take my drls out because it's literally being held in with the melted plastic.

I'm very sorry to see this.

We had a poor-quality batch of these bulbs quite some time ago, that were assembled with this adhesive. Most bulbs of this type on the market are indeed held together with basic hot-melt adhesive, but our bulbs generally are not, as we specify otherwise. One of our contract manufacturers completely ignored our instruction and it was not caught in our spot-checking for incoming shipments. This was all quite some time ago, and I thought we had pulled all of them before many went out, and we tried to contact customers that we did think received the bad bulbs. It seems we may have missed some.

As Nick mentioned, we'll be happy to upgrade you to better bulbs at no cost. I'm very sorry for the trouble experienced. I would recommend leaving them on for a few minutes to warm any stuck adhesive, then removing from the socket.

Did leaving them on for a bit not help to soften the melted adhesive at all?

heat gun from behind bro. Don't worry about the plastic connectors/wires. They'll be safe

cdrazic93 02-19-2015 02:39 PM

to get it out? Lets see; im going to need a .45 shell casing, some gun powder, a hammer, a sandwich and some beer.

No, it's an led light so it would run much much more cooler than a normal bulb. Plus i tried to take it out right as i drove home from work the other night, so my car was on for about 15 minutes.

@Diode Dynamics has offered to send me some new bulbs but this still doesn't solve the whole bulb stuck inside the housing problem, and no i don't have a heat gun or a .45
