Choice between GT4 or C7Z with Z07? Same price, different philosophies, ultimately same purpose. And adding Shelby Gt350R to the mix. Feel free to suggest others within 6 figure, only deal breaker is no manual. Depreciation will be weighed.

GT4 without a doubt for me. Z07 and C7Z are cool and all but the GT4 just seems like such a fun car to push. Like an FRS but 10x better in every single way.

How about starting off with karts and eventually move up to some sort of single-seater car? If it's for a dedicated track car, I don't see the point of buying a road car, and I don't see the point of buying a car faster than you can handle. It's like that episode of top gear where the stig driving a Cayman laps much faster than Hammond in a twin turbo v12 Huayra.

All depends on which one you feel most comfortable with crumpled up and on fire.

This. Buy a used race car commensurate with your skill level. Ensure it is thoroughly vetted by someone specializing in that platform.
No point in buying a street car if you'll only use it on the track.

The big thing is that I'm slowly realizing that the number of vehicles sold as street cars that can actually be driven at 100% for more than one or two laps at a track are few and far between, the number shrinks when you start adding simple things like better brakes and tires and you really beat the hell out of it, which what's the point of going to the track if you don't beat the hell out of it? Like @rice_classic says, whichever you feel comfortable balling up.

I assume the purpose is less a dedicated track car and more of a trackable weekend car that you can still drive to work Monday. If that's the case I would skip new cars altogether (as the warranty is likely moot), find something a couple years old for < half your budget with a strong aftermarket that has already solved problems that appear when driving hard. Z06, Cayman's and Boxsters, maybe Boss 302 (I honestly can't tell based on OP if you want or don't want a Manual?).

As I'm realizing how expensive it is to get a Toyobaru truly reliable on track (which may be impossible given the number of spun rod bearings) I'm seriously considering buying a Miata to track, specifically spec miata so I can get some wheel to wheel racing action in before I'm old and gray. It seems to be one of the few street vehicles that can be beaten mercilessly for hours of track time with no breaks. Karting may be cheaper on the budget but less accessible to friends & family than going to trackdays and offering rides or even drives.

I understand there are really no stock street cars that are 100% suitable for pure track duty. So I should state it will be street driven and manual is a must, otherwise BAC Mono like others suggested.
