You nailed it with the "not much insulation" comment. The TSB Steve cited was specific to some early 13s and was fixed for later production cars so isn't likely the cause (still worth checking though).
You will get used to hearing all sorts of weird and wonderful noises from pretty much every area of the car. None of these noises are unusual really it is just most other cars are insulated enough you just don't hear them.
Unless you start getting exactly the same noise that never changes I would not worry. Just drive and enjoy.

Oh ya... I am sure you have heard about the fuel pump "crickets". If you start to get the chirping learn to love it because there is still nothing that can be done about it even though some people have suggestions they think works!

yep plenty of weird noises in these cars.

mine is very late 2013 and i have rear deck creaking noise. :-)

E85 fixes my crickets :D
E10 fuel gets them going
non ethanol fuel ie 100% petrol shuts them up again

they generally get more excited when it hot

but everyones fuel blends and additives are different. same on my friends cars.

check to make sure the spare tire and accessories are snug?
Maybe its the LSD you hear? Mine occasionally thumps around corners

The tools bounce and clang. The only time it doesn't happen is when I have large heavy things in the trunk holding them down.

I got the rear deck popping on my '14. Dealer blamed my lowering springs and wouldn't touch it since they weren't installed by them. Low and behold, I pulled the rear deck cover and did the procedure outlined in the TSB and voila. no more popping.

Thanks! I think you are pretty much the first later model guy I have heard to have that issue but glad it worked. I will watch (well listen) for it but right now with the cold I have so many rattles, squeaks, thumps, bangs and other bizarre noises I wouldn't know if that was one of them or not!!!!
