Cruise control wont set after clutch install? ($$ reward for solution!)

SOLVED

So for some odd reason the cruise control will turn on, but wont set. This is after doing a clutch and lightweight flywheel install. All plugs are plugged in, but if theres one in particular that would cause this from some kind of position sensing then I can check again. Also, its a manual 2015

Symptoms:
- There is NO CEL!!! again NO Check Engine Light
- cruise control light lights up
- cruise control wont set and set light doesnt come on
-stock (no tune)

What Ive already Checked:
-No there is no CEL
-the car doesnt start in gear so the clutch switch should be fine(right?)
-The brake lights arent constantly on, so the brake switch should be ok(right?)
-The main cruise control light comes on so the fuse should be fine(right?)

Solution:
Took to subaru, Not sure what he did but something with the scanner or maybe something with the clutch switch…not 100% sure since he didn't have time to explain but its fixed so all good.

Did you ever adjust the clutch pedal or mess with the clutch actuator? There's a push-button on the clutch pedal that turns off the cruise (and won't let it activate) if the clutch is pushed in even a little bit.

Turn on the gear indicator (http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...16&postcount=4) and see if it shows a gear (1-6, because reverse is ALWAYS displayed regardless of clutch pedal position) when the clutch is fully released.

If it doesn't show a gear besides reverse, you've got a problem with either A) the clutch actuator is messed up and you aren't releasing it all the way, or B) the switch is misaligned (potentially if you did the pedal adjustment incorrectly).

If it shows a gear, at least you can eliminate that button from the troubleshooting...

*** correction, nope gear indicator works fine

Check the two switches for the clutch pedal. They are both adjustable. The lower switch is for the ECU to detect if clutch is disengaged for cruise control and gear indicator, which sounds like your issue. The higher switch is for the ECU to detect if clutch is "fully depressed" as to start the ignition.

Ok I see both, the bottom one is completely pressed and the top one doesnt even touch when the clutch is released. And when pressed the bottom one doesnt touch at all and the top one is pressed in... seems right to me

for some reason cruise is disabled if rear 02 sensor is removed/faulty.

If you have a tune often cel codes related to rear o2 are disabled so you might not get a cel, but rear 02 need to be connected for cruise to work i believe. does the cruise light come up yellow or green ??

Make sure the neural position switch is good / plugged in.

yes the manual transmission has one, its on the passenger side middle top section on the rear case section of the transmission.

the wire harness is a few inches long, 2 wires.

check your reverse.. I think you might of swapped the 2 connectors.

bren5279 12-04-2014 11:58 PM

Ohhhhh yeah yep its plugged in. I can check it with a volt meter though.

does the one next to it, reverse swapped by chance?

bren5279 12-05-2014 12:30 AM

noope. Dont think you can swap those two as far as I know

At this point I would check the data stream and check for cruise control cancel codes, NOTE it does not turn on the CEL.

I am going to assume you drove it over 25MPH in gear and attempted to push the set button?
