Tools for air compressor ;)
 

Is this the right place to post... Since it is a problem ;)


So I want to buy an air compressor for few things
1. Dry my car
2. Power my tools


I will buy a impact wrench capable of doing 400ft-lb. Will this be enough to tighten and untighten my wheel lug nuts?


I will also buy a gun that blows air to dry my car :) will that work or is it dangerous.. I heard that sometimes there is internal rust and its not good for the car..

400 Ft/lbs is more than enough. I forgot what this car torque specs are but it's around 80 ft/lbs. Buy a torque stick if you plan on using the air gun to tighten the lug nuts or use a torque wrench.

Most impact guns are at 150 ft/lbs.

The air gun is not useful to dry the car in big areas, it's good if you need to blow dry tight crevices or need to spray air at a certain area.

I'd use a lead blower to dry the car instead of one of those air blower guns.

If you are short on space or want to be more mobile, I would suggest a cordless impact wrench and impact driver.

Dewalt makes some decent wrenches and drivers. I love my impact driver from them. It's small enough to get in some pretty tight places and has a decent amount of torque. (It can do the lugs, but I usually still break them with a bar first).

You can compliment that with an impact wrench that is capable of 400ftlb for heavier work and can easily break lugs and suspension components.

I bought a DeWalt so I can tear apart my 1JZ, it was by far the easiest engine teardown I have ever done.

Air is dead for almost everything. I've converted to electric tools and couldn't be happier. I've been wrenching for 12 years.

I use cordless out on the field but use air at home.
Air tools are cheaper, lighter, smaller, usually more power.
400 ft lbs should be more than enough as long as the fasteners aren't seized/rusted. BTW be very careful about tightening using impact, you really shouldn't. I'll set my gun to minimum power and pulse trigger only enough to spin the lugs on. Then I'll use torque wrench to tighten to spec.
Just to be safe you should put an inline air separator/filter on the output of compressor.
