oft e85 question?
I am thinking about getting the oft and running e85 on my new 2015 FRS. it currently has 3000 miles. Should i wait till certain mileage or it doesnt matter? and I am wondering if any users have any problems running e85 long term. Also what about maintenance on e85, oil change still at 7500/miles or it have to be sooner.

Change the oil sooner than 7500, e85 contaminates your oil more than normal fuel..also some people recommend running an e85 specific oil, I believe there's an entire thread about it. You should be good to run it at your mileage. Make sure you follow the procedure for filling up/flashing the e85 tune, which I believe is under @steve99 's OFT tips and tricks. Watch your LT fuel trims, I think they should be under 4% or so.
Whether or not you decide to run e85, you should pick up an OFT. It's awesome. |

FWIW I flashed my new FR-S at 3000 miles to E85 and actually had the first scheduled maintenance at the dealer and the stock 0-20 synthetic oil is E85 compatible.
Dealer had no idea car had been converted either |
Be prepared to watch your gas mileage fall like a rock. You will have to much fun on corn juice.

Is it still advised to run a tank of 98 every 4th tank or so to keep the injectors from fouling or can you just run indefinitely with increased oils changes?

hi, anyone know if gc is compatible with e85?

I'm thrilled to try E85 myself in a couple of weeks. Hope the cold starts won't be a problem as I live in Scandinavia. But as E85 is quite a regular fuel in Sweden, where it can get really cold, I think it isn't going to be a problem.
Can you just clarify the following for me? Running premium gas on E85 map would be damaging I presume. But running E85 on a normal gas stage 1 map shouldn't hurt the engine, right? I know that the ECU will take longer to adapt, but it will do so in the end, when there's only gas left in the tank after the next fill up. I'm not planning on doing this though, it's just nice to know in case of emergency. :) |
