butt connectors question

hi guys,

new to the in-stallion of stereo in our car and would like to know when and how to select the butt connectors for out car. and when do we need to use it if we have got all the harness for the iso and the stereo itself. as i saw from youtube there are 14-16 gauges 18-22 gauges. thanks.

i am planning to install a single din pioneer headunit.

OK main thing is they make harness adapters (http://www.crutchfield.com/p_120701761/Metra-70-1761-Receiver-Wiring-Harness.html?tp=297)

The BEST way is to soldier and use weather resistant heat shrink on the wires.([ame="http://www.amazon.com/Heat-Shrinkable-Wire-Wrap-Set-24-piece/dp/B0042YUAR8/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1416186912&sr=8-12&keywords=heat+shrink"]http://www.amazon.com/Heat-Shrinkable-Wire-Wrap-Set-24-piece/dp/B0042YUAR8/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1416186912&sr=8-12&keywords=heat+shrink)[/ame]

However if you must use butt connectors use the heat/self soldering ones.

or even these will work in places not expecting to get moisture in:

Hope this helps and feel free to ask any questions you like. I have been working vehicles for 20 years and have done tons of custom sounds system installs.

The BEST way is to use proper crimps as they're best in a high vibration environment (in other words, a car). Soldering takes up less room, but it causes higher resistance and brittleness of the wire.

Regardless, you're really asking about the wire gauge, and that I cannot tell you as I don't have the wires in hand to measure.
