Service needed after the second day

The second day of ownership and the truck will not open (MT limited).
It will not open either from outside or inside. Time to take it in :mad0260:

BTW, The key Fob must be the cheapest part of this car. They did not spend any money on it. I hope they change it in the coming years.

Did you try the key in the trunk keyhole? Inside the trunk there is a trunk reactivation button which would require manually using the key. The idea is luggage security. It might have been accidentally locked. I plan on using it to put my gun or valuables in there.

Are you sure you did not diable the trunk lid opener. There is a button in the trunk. Try opening the trunk with the key and checking it.

EDIT: Too slow!! Pg 46 of the owners manual for reference.

Thank you so much for the help. It was exactly what you said. I opened the trunk with the key fob and then activated the button on the left side of the trunk. On the bright side now we know that this feature really works.
Thanks again.

Cool, its a nice option to have. Especially with car prowlers that bust your side window and pop the trunk release button. Otherwise some people just deactivate their trunks by cutting the wire that connects to the lock and unlock.

Haha, yes. I think this should be a sticky. I did it on the first day when I was trying out different features. Pressed the button in the trunk and forgot about it. Had to go read the manual too when I discovered that I can't open the trunk. If you think about it - it makes complete sense: you're supposed to give the electronic key to the valets, keeping the mechanical key. Hence, nothing will open the trunk, except for the mech. key.

I did the same thing the second day I had my car!

Many people are going to run into this issue. Good choice for a sticky...

Can't you just fold the rear seat down from inside?

The NC Miata has the same feature. Based on the miata.net forum, we can expect dozens of post like this in the coming months and years. I thread like this needs to be stickied.

Or better yet if we just had a "common problems" thread in a simple Q and A format that would be even better. The answers could be set-up to link to individual threads like this one in addition to having a short explanation of the solution to the problem at hand.

I thought of that while reading the posts above. Seems like there's nothing preventing that from happening. :iono:

Except for the procedure to fold down the rear seats. You can't do it from the inside - gotta pull the straps inside the trunk.
