Winter Tires and 17" Rims??
I know its not even Summer yet.. but living in NY.. the winters can be rough.. I was thinking about using the stock rims for snow tires.. and getting new 17's for the standard rubber.. Any ideas? Has anyone swapped their rims yet for Stock size ones? I don't want to go bigger because i think it will alter the unsprung weight and could effect the driving dynamics.. especially the awesome ride it has now.. (i've been in one already- drives and soaks up the bumps so well!) Anyway.. please post pics if you have gone with 17's..

My winter tires are going on the stock rims, so pics won't look any different. But I will be getting aftermarket rims for summer use. The stock rims are 20.1lbs, and there are plenty of rims out there that weigh less.

Look a little further down in the "Wheels | Tires | Suspension | Chassis | Brakes " forum
Winter tires and wheels, what is your plan? This thread seem to look like basically the same discussion... As said. Pictures of winter tires on stock wheels should look basically the same as summer. Especially on stock tires. 205/50-17 is usually the smallest tires you will find and will fit on a 17x7 wheel. And it will look like stock from the side.. 215/45-17 will look like 100% like stock. Putting on wider tires is generally not recommended for winter use. Hopefully there will be more pics of wheels and tires in this thread in the future. Forum members wheel and tire experiences |
