-50mm on a Rocket Bunny.
This may be the wrong forum for this question, feel free to move it if so.
I am building a RBv1 GT86 and have a set of Ohlins coil overs for the car. I have noted that the Ohlins kits go a max of -50mm on ride height. Is this enough for a good look. Obviously, I'm more interested in ultimate handling than a stances look, but I also don't want to build a skyscraper lol. Pictures would be nice if poss please. |
for handling most people dont go below -25mm or so. you start screwing with the roll centers and other fancy things when you go lower.

My car WILL handle and it WILL be a RB. I am absolutely smitten with the look of the kit. |
honestly if you've got the cash to do it correctly it shouldnt be anything to spend a few more grand having the body shop make everything exactly like you want.

You do realize you have to cut massive amounts of sheet metal out for Rocket Bunny? You shouldn't have any problem slamming your car if that's what you want. I'm running 325/645-18s and while I don't set my ride height low we most certainly compress the suspension under race conditions way more than that.

I would make sure you work with the body shop or whoever is installing the RB kit so they can cut out and then seal what you need to clear your wheel/tire/ride height combo. |
Thanks for your reply Phil, I am aware I need to cut out lots of steel for the kit to fit which I will be doing myself. I am a time served engineer from Rolls Royce Aerospace and have many hours experience of fabrication, welding, composites and painting.
Right now, the body is on hold as I decided to build a Turbo Motor first. I'm loving your posts here on the FA 20. |
What offset rims are people running with the RB kit? I'm looking at potentially running something like 17x12 or 18x12 but no idea what office to use.

answers?

For good looks I would say try to get as much negative offset as avaliable I went - 18 front an - 38 rear. Max rim width I believe is 9.5 front and 11 rear
|
what about tires... I'm hoping to run a 26" tire that actualy fits the rim, say 295 rear 265 fronts?
