Help! Washers for Oil/Trans/Diff
 

My car has hit 30k mi and im planning to change my engine oil, trans fluid & diff fluid next weekend on my 6MT and am ordering the parts now. After searching the forums I found that the washers I need are:


(2) Trans Fill/Drain plug washer - SU00303626 -Dealer special ordered today
(1) Diff fill plug washer- SU00300122 - Dealer special ordered today
(1) Diff drain plug washer- TOY1215710010- In stock and bought today.


I left the dealership with a new oil filter and the diff drain plug washer (washer on right in pic). Later I realized that I didnt have a new washer for the engine oil drain plug so I went back and the parts guy told me that the gasket he gave me earlier was the drain washer. I tried to explain to him that what I bought earlier was the diff drain washer and i also needed a washer for the engine oil drain plug, so he gave me a blue/black colored washer(washer on left in pic). After searching through more threads on here I found a pic of an engine oil drain plug with a washer on it that looks just like what is suppose to be my diff drain washer... now im unsure of what washers i received today.

Does anyone have a pic of the engine oil drain washer as well as of the diff drain washer? Or could someone tell me if the washer he gave me for the engine oil drain plug is in fact right?

Sorry, I just want to make sure I have all the right parts.

Both the engine and rear diff use the thin steel "crush" type washers. The I.D. (inside diameter) of the one for the engine is 16mm, and the ones for the diff are 18mm. This type of washer/gasket must be replaced each time. The transmission uses the thicker soft aluminum type, and they can be re-used in a pinch without leaking. The one you have pictured for the engine is not the "correct" one. If the I.D. is right, you may still be ok to use it. What is it made of?

Thanks for the reply. The diff washer is 18mm and steel, so it is right. However, he gave me the wrong engine washer.. it is aluminum with a soft paint like coating on it and it only measures 12mm ID. Is there a part # for the engine oil washer?

That washer on the left is the generic one used in all Toyota models. I have a bunch for my Toyota and if you need I can compare them to my brz washers if it would help you but I would not readily use that on my brz. The Toyota parts guy gave you that one because it's all he knows and is used to.

If its not too much of a hassle, could you snap a pic of the engine washer? Im going back to the dealer Monday and would like to show the parts guy a pic of the washer. Or would I be safe in saying the engine washer looks identical to the diff washer only with a slightly smaller inside diameter?

I compared both the Toyota generic washer and the Subaru crush washer. The outside diameter is about equal but the inside diameter is not.

Can you get away with using the toyota one? Probably. Could it even be better than the Subaru one? Maybe. I'm going to continue using the Toyota one in my Toyota and the Subaru one in the BRZ.

The one for the oil pan looks the same as the ones for the diff, but smaller. I believe the part number is SU003-02159, but have your parts guy check to be sure.

I use this as replacement gaskets. Since transmission washers are flat steel, I reuse those. I believe differential drain plug is crush type, so replaced with these.

Don't reuse the engine oil drain plug. Get a Fumoto. Makes future oil changes a piece of cake.

And by the way, the diff fill and diff drain washers are identical.

I've been using generic copper washers (oil pan) on my car for the last 37,000 miles without any issues.

Hello friends, I had to change the differential oil and gearbox oil, but I realized that I need their washers. After a lot of research and searching, I realized that I cannot order the original samples. I want to use similar samples. What kind of washers can I use for my gearbox and differential?
