WARNING/HELP! ecu bricked from ECUtek Latest update/flash

So i'm sitting at a local shop getting work done to my car. The work gets finished so I decide to flash to the newest base map I have sitting on my laptop.

I haven't updated my files prior in a while, so I figured now was as good a time as any to update. I updated my file, built the new software and all that stuff. Next, I went to detect my ECU, found the ECU as normal. Went to flash the ECU like I normally would and the screen freezes for a minute then tells me my ECU is "part programmed" and that I may have to have it flashed.

Tried to flash it again but the port is not readable now and the car won't start. It will turn all the Idiot lights on and the radio works, but the car won't start. What do I do?

Did you update the software prior to flashing. There was software update maybe a month or two ago that caused this issue. It was supposed to be fixed.

I'll keep it company, so it's not sitting put there by itself haha

On a serious note, I haven't reflashed my car in a while, so I'm not sure what the deal with the new update is, but I'm guessing you guys tried pulling the battery cable to reset the ecu?

Dream20b 09-12-2014 05:30 PM

no, I didn't try that

UNless the ECU gets completely shorted out, you should be able to flash it even if a flash fails right?

could be a number of things.

if it says part ptogrammed it likely failed part way through flash.

unfortunatly with cutek it stores part of your licence info in the rom of the ecu.

with any flashing device it erases ecu first then writes new rom.

it likely your ecutek licience info in rom is lost and you will now need your tuner or ecutek to renew your licience.

the concern is also why the first flash failed main causes will be damaged cable or odb socket in car or low or flat battery in car or other electrical systems active during flash ie turn off everything in car radio fans ect.

Turn car off, turn car back on, manually select vehicle (not auto detect) in ECUtek, continue as normal. As it's part programmed it cannot detect the ROM type so it will warn you upon manual selecting about flashing an incorrect ROM.

Tried this but it just freezes up.

I'll hear back from the master tuner at some point today. I'll keep you guys posted. So far I've had an email back requesting my log file.
