Throttle body spacer

This popped up on ft86 speed factory:

Anyone have any experience with these sorts of things?

From the amount of research I've done on TB spacers, if the injector is located where the spacer would be than it would have some actual gains. Since the TB and the spacer would be farther away, it's more or less just adding an insignificant amount of cfm into the intake mani. A better solution would be the BPB since they're like spacers for the actual intake runners near the injectors.

My .02 cents. If anyone has hard data backing up their claims of a TB spacer working on this car, please post it

Don't see any big gains coming from it, but one in red would add a good touch to the engine bay. Plus I'd get it if I can get a bigger body throttle or somehow have our OEM one modified ;)

It's aluminum so you could anodize it any color. And a port for nitrous, too! I thought I saw thread about a guy that can open up the TB?

There are larger TB on the market but they are expensive. Cusco and Toda do them.

My understanding of the TB spacer is to increase plennum volume which can improve torque and power if the stock plennum is undersized.

One would be a bit foolish to think that the OEM wouldn't have tested this exact thing in the design of the manifold...

TB spacers have been a scam since day 1.

Throttle body spacers usually work on TBI systems, where the injectors are in the throttle body itself. They are used sometimes to give the air/fuel mixture a little more room to homogenize before being sucked(or actually pushed) into the cylinders. They can also help increase the plenum size a bit to help in the upper RPM's, but they have to be pretty large.(think a 2" carb spacer on a race motor) On a port or direct injected motor I can't really see a benefit, as the small increase in plenum size the spacer would add really wouldn't be noticeable on the top end.

Just ordered one. Might use it with my TODA tb(using stock TB atm), see how that goes.

I have the CBPB and thinking about this spacer as well in parallel.

I did a similar setup on my '04 TL (both spacers) and noticed significant gains in tandem.

Your thoughts?

Look for independent dyno results for a TB spacer (or bigger TB while we're at it). You won't find any that actually show any gains.

I beg to differ, their wallet will be lighter and their butt dyno will justify it.

TB spacers only work with octane boosters.

Also dont forget to check your blinker fluid regularly.

@jamesm did back to back dyno pulls on a stock car with and without the spacer and found it to have no performance gain.

Hmmm. Thanks for input.
