Driveway Labs side skirts installed
2 Attachment(s)
Hi. Since I know Carl @Wonderbar, owner of Driveway Labs (drivewaylabs.com), I got the early batch of the soon to be super popular, functional with form, side skirts. Unlike most people I elected to not have it powder coated black as it wouldn't go with my color scheme. I painted it with Grimmspeed gold paint as I've done with all the other silver pieces in my car. I installed the side skirts in my garage with jack stands. The rear rubber mini mud flap needed to be adjusted a little (cut a slit in it) and I'm not able to use my OEM front mud flaps anymore. Install was fairly easy. Just need a drill with a 8mm socket, flat head screw driver and maybe a philips if you need to remove the front OEM mud flaps. I only had 1.25 cans of Grimmspeed gold paint left and I think I could have used 2 full cans as the paint doesn't look perfect. The side skirt itself is a solid piece and of a quality cut. If I designed it I probably would have rounded the front a little for a more progressive front edge, but that's just a minor thing so no big deal. Goes great with the rear diffuser I have which he also made (V1). All in all I would highly recommend this product over all the stick on plastic or fake carbon side skirts I've seen in person. Maybe he will have a type 2 version the is a little less aggressive, sticks out less, and is slightly more rounded in the front. That said I'd still keep my version 1 as I like a more aggressive look. :)

And Carl @Wonderbar No offense meant with the gangster comment, I just enjoy giving you a hard time. I should see if I can dig up a picture of the side splitters I did for the MT900. |

diffuser ordered, my car is already hard enough to jack up on coils. with splitters and diffuser it seems even more of a pita!

How are they mounted? I'm sure the skirt itself can take the occasional step, but if these are just screwed into the underbody like the other kits, I gotta imagine that'd rip right out with the weight of a good sized American. Are these bolted on?

I'll post a video tomorrow on my Facebook of it supporting my body weight. |
As a word to the durability.
I was really dumb yesterday. Ezcarlift was delivered, put the car on it and my 3 and 6 ton jack stands near max extension for comparison nearby. Forgot they were there and lowered the car. Eventually the 6 ton kinda tipped/shot sideways. My passenger skirt now has bit of a bend to work out. But the skirt itself hasnt moved and the bend while clearly evident also is pretty insignifigant compared to what happened. Not bad for lowering the car onto the edge of it |
