How do you check if you have a di seal faliure
 

Sorry if this has been posted before I searched every way and still could not find the answer I was looking for. I have an avo turbo in my car and I noticed a slight dip from 700-600 rpm while at idle. I also notice popping sound right at start up. What should I look for while data logging.
I am also running the avo base map and an all catless exhaust which makes it hard to pinpoint for any other sounds due to its loud exhaust

Do about 20 WOT pulls. If engine is still running you're good, if not then you have failure.

Lol^ is the popping coming from your exhaust or engine bay? If it's only during a cold start I'd think it's just your exhaust. I think the only definitive way is to pull the injectors out. @Dezoris has done it if I remember correctly.

You are searching for something that's not there.. If there was a easy way to log that people would have done so a long time ago. There is no way to tell 100 percent if you have di failure with out taking the injectors out to look at them. If you have firecrackers going off under the hood all the time then you need to worry. If its the single pop in the am when the car is 100 percent cold. Don't worry.

I'd think if you have a defective leaking seal your engine will be exhibiting a lean misfire. A pretty bad one at that. You wouldn't be wondering whether if u have a problem. It would be quite obvious something is wrong. Although I've not experienced a DI seal failure myself *fingers crossed*

You will throw a misfire code when they need to be changed. Unfortunately you may not get a warning before you get that code. Best advice see if you smelling out of the exhaust. These cars act funny sometimes when you start up they may pop abit due to not starting for a while. Cold start pops are ok but not pops on a fixed rpm under steady throttle. Thats intake backfire. Our engines actually are built a bit to breath meaning under our FI we need to monitor pressure in the engine. Not a big deal just monitor and if it happens other than idle well you know you got the leak.

It's just one single pop right at start up. No idle issues or anything.... wold checking for any signs misfiring in my logs help?

Mis fires don't mean di issues are exactly the issue. I had mis fire code last November all it was was a coil pack going out. I have not had a single code or issue since.

I would say a bleeddown test should show it, but to do that you need to pull the plugs (lift the engine).

Not sure if ive ever heard of anyone doing a BD test on this engine.
