Muffled front pipe?

Has anyone tried a custom catless front pipe setup with a straight-through muffler in it? I'm trying to think of ways to make my car quieter without having to ditch my beautiful Tomei 60R.

Just use a catted front pipe. I believe a high flow catted front pipe only gives away a couple of hp against a catless front pipe....so I don't understand why you'd want to run catless and pair it with an exhaust that is already known to be on the loud side....then complain about the sound.

My problem isn't with the front pipe itself, but with how loud my car is with headers, I need a front pipe with a muffler, I'm just wondering if anyone's done it before...

To tell you truth, sound doesnt reduce a lot. very minimal.

HKS offer a catless FP with two resonators

Invidia offer a catless FP with one resonator

And T1R also make one:

I'm running a MagnaFlow high flow catted and resonated front pipe. 2.5" stainless steel. More pics here

What shop can you actually find the Magnaflow Front pipe? I've tried to search but can't find it anywhere...

It's available from a plethora of online retailers as well as Amazon, who currently have the best price on it.
I got mine from Stillen for $380 shipped back when they were running a sale.

No idea, you'll have to ask around.

Don't blow alot on a resonated front pipe, unless an exhaust is properly muffled (chambered briefcase style muffler) then it's going to be loud. Straight through exhausts are what they , they can't really be fixed. Trust me, I added an 18" resonator to a 2.75" exhaust and it basically didn't change a thing.

Not true, look at the Tanabe Concept G, straight thru muffler and still very tame sound.

I'm telling you from personal experience. Adding just a resonator (especially a tiny 6-8") won't do enough to justify the expense.

You may want to consider selling the 60R and going with the 60S and HFC front pipe. You won't lose much power with a different catback, but you sure will lose power between HFC and catless front pipe. The difference is minor with a NA setup. It's much larger with a turbo setup.
