Header Question
Question: Installing new headers without a tune, is it a worthless exercise, other than just for sound?

you will get power from it but will benefit more with a tune. also you will get a code if you go catless

Will that code be a CEL?

Yes |
IMO I'd get a tune first, such as the OFT (openflash tablet), then get a header later on. That's the route I'm going, just ordered my OFT yesterday. If you're just interested in sound you might consider a catback exhaust. This will give you more sound, doesn't benefit as much (if at all) from a tune, and won't throw any codes without a tune.

catless headers will generally cause cel code P0420 cat effieiency you can use an 02 spacer or de-fouler fitting on the second 02 sensor to stop the cel code, about 90% sucess rate always use new gaskets or it will leak a week or so later aftermarket headers will put you engine warantee under a question mark and they are very obvious to service personel headers without tune is unlikely to cause any issues cother than cel code however you will get much more benifit from them if you tune for them headers no tune , better midrange maybe 8 wheel hp top end headers with tune much better midrange eliminate torque dip maybe 15 wheel hp increase top end tune will also disable the P0420 cel code so you will not need O2 spacer/de-fouler fitting on second 02 sensor headers will increase exhaust volume especially catless their are two cats one in headers and second one in midpipe |
