Installed Cusco Catch can wrong? Running lean

Hey guys,

I think I migh of installed my cusco catch can wrong because it threw a CEL. I took it to the dealership and they told me the car was running lean because of the catch can, I'm thinking I installed the can wrong?

could anyone help me fix this?

Thank You

since you didn't provide any photos or additional info to go on, if you remove it and return it back to stock, and you don't throw a CEL, then you probably installed it wrong.

here's some photos, since I used the OEM tubing to make the Cusco tube fit into the pcv inlet, I can't use the OEM hoses anymore :iono:

How did you use the OEM hose to fit the cusco tube fit? If you put the cusco hose over the stock hose which is over the pcv valve outlet then i would guess you are getting a vacuum leak there.

Well I used the little v-clamp clips over the cusco hose to tighten it up with the OEM ones in it and made sure it's a tight fit. Not sure if you can understand what I'm saying. If I'm having a vacuum leak will the CEL come on again? The dealership deleted my CEL so so far there's no CEL.

definitely a vacuum leak. The same thing happened to me after a tiny split in the hose appeared

Is it set up like the attached drawing? (yes i know i have mad paint skillz)

If you have a vacuum leak and it is running lean it would throw a CEL.

yup that's exactly how I set it up, good job on the mockup lol. Now it's not throwing the CEL, I actually tightened up the v-clamp more.

As per a Subaru tech on another thread I just copied his method.

Bought some 3/8" fuel line tubing (2' for $6), cut a 1" piece and fit it into the Cusco tubing. Slid it on the PCV and done.

alright, so I tightened all the hose clamps up and I found the culprit.

anyone know how to fix this? I'm pretty sure it's between the bolts that's leaking, I hear a whizzing sound there and when I close it with my fingers it goes away.

Teflon plumbing tape applied on the threads, then screw the fitting back in place. Make sure the tightening nut is tight.
