Improving Steering Feel

Hi all,

I'm trying to improve the amount of feedback I get from the wheel, and the overall steering feel and responsiveness of the car. I want it to feel tight and responsive. Thus I've started to look into various aftermarket parts to accomplish this. So far I ordered Perrin's Steering Rack Lockdown kit:

While this is a step forward in my goal of recieving more steering feedback, it does nothing towards my other goal of making my steering more responsive. Thus I've started to look into steering rack bushings:

But... Is this actually more solid than stock bushings, and will it make a difference in steering feel?

Any more suggestions on accomplishing my goals would greatly welcomed! Thanks

Cusco is overpriced. Other brands are $20-$50. They do provide better steering feel, because polyurethane is stiffer than rubber.

If you want to go all in, look into Turn-in Concepts' solid aluminum steering rack bushings. Or if you need to stay STX-legal, their Delrin bushings.

Steering rack bushings are probably redundant with the steering rack lockdown in my opinion. Do either or. TiC makes an aluminum bushing replacement and also has virtually no movement. Perrin makes a replacement front control arm bushing that could probably help. http://perrinperformance.com/i-13324...-fr-s-brz.html

Not sure about steering but I know the car feels way more responsive with upgraded sway bars. Could tell a huge differenceright away that the overall handling felt better.

I have heard a solid strut tower bar (like Grimmspeed) has helped with initial turn in response.

And I don't believe TiC sells the aluminum bushings anymore since I could only find the derlin on their website recently. If you are interested I have a brand new set f aluminum I could part with since I really need derlin for autox. PM me if you are interested.

Same question has already been asked here:

For resposiveness I would look into your alignment, tyres with a stiffer sidewall, poly bushes in the LCAs or aftermarket LCAs with rose joints/rodends/ball joints/hiem joints/whatever you prefer to call them. Lightweight wheels and any weight reduction you can do around the front of the front of the car will also help. There is also a thread on the BRZ tS which mentions the different steering rack bolts Subaru/STI used to improve steering feel that may be worth investigating.

I just installed the Delrin inserts from turn in concepts. They actually reduce vibration while turning in instantly. No over-corrections! There was always some hesitation cutting into a sharp corner, than backing off because the rubber decompresses and over-corrects. These are cheap and easy to install and make the biggest difference dollar for dollar, then anything else. You also need to re-align the car afterwards, since the rack might move some during the installation.

Maybe if you install them yourself but if you have paid someone to install them and do an alignment then the GrimmSpeed bar is cheaper and made a bigger difference for me. Nice double post btw.

My solution that works quite well, this, this, this, and this:

The Carbing brace is probably the most noticeable single improvement.
