Parking brake lead problem?

.

It's supposed to do that.

In the old days, they used to just check the e-brake or if the automatic was in park to allow the unit to do things like watch a movie or the like. Now they also check vehicle speed for redundancy.

Stop messing with the e-brake ;)

Why are you driving around with the hand brake on?

they don't recommend you driving around with it engaged, they recommend short periods 30 sec or so, under a slower speed, coming to a stop to bed the parking brake shoes.

When i first got the car its how i bed in the rear brakes. if you read the manual its in there. its what subaru says should be done with new rotors/pads.

Are you sure it's in the manual? If so it probably shouldn't be, at least not for the pads and rotor face. The parking brake is a drum system inside the center of the rotor, so all you are doing is "bedding" the shoes and the drum.

I haven't. But you know a bunch of us are going to go do it now to see what happens.

I did the procedure as in the manual, did not get a message, you do get a bit of a clunk though which would be normal
